Xander held the book out at arm’s length, blinked, then brought it back closer to his face. "Can’t I be on actual cooking detail?" he asked Faith, squinting with his one good eye at the small text. "Because this way, we’re both just going to get frustrated."

Faith rolled her eyes and snatched the book away from him, cocking her head toward the counter. "Go for it, X-man," she said. "You get all mixy, I’ll tell you what to do next."

"Cool." Xander got up and looked at the ingredients laid out. "Okay! We got flour, we got tomato sauce, we got four kinds of cheese, we got butter, we got --"

"Save it, yo," Faith said. "We got everything, I made sure already."

Xander glared at her. "You don’t have to rip my head off," he spat out. "You already tried to do that once, and we remember how well that worked out."

Faith lowered the cookbook and regarded Xander with a measure of shock. "Dude, I’m all road to redeption-esque now," she said. "I’ve apologized like a bizillion times for all the crap I pulled back in the day. Now, can we just get back to this without the attitude?"

Xander shrugged. "If you’re capable of doing something without showing off the chip on your shoulder, fine. I’m just not sure you can do it."

Faith set her jaw tensely and looked across the kitchen at Xander for a moment before turning her attention to the extra cooking supplies on the center island next to where she stood.

Flour.

She grinned as Xander turned his back to her, and without wasting an instant, she’d lobbed a handful of it at his head.

"HEY!" he shouted. "What’s the big --"

His words were cut off by another handful flying directly at his face.

Fifteen minutes later, Xander and Faith were both covered in flour, the kitchen a mess. Buffy surveyed the room with a numbed expression on her face. "I take it the pizza isn’t happening."

Xander and Faith shook their heads in unison.
