“Yeah, he’s hot,” Faith said with a throaty laugh.

Angel liked it when she laughed; she didn’t do that enough. But he couldn’t let her get away with this. “He looks kinda girly,” Angel said. “We’re not all these skinny blonds with glass fingernails.”

Faith groaned. “Not again.”

“Anne Rice has done more to create inaccurate perceptions of -–“

“Angel?”

“Yeah?”

“Stuart Townshend is hot. I don’t care if Lestat is accurate or not.” She threw a piece of popcorn at him. “Now shut up and watch the movie.”

Angel blinked and regarded the small white puff of buttery snack food now adorning the front of his shirt.

Soon enough, the popcorn bowl was being used as ammunition from both camps, fistfuls flying through the air. When the bowl was empty, Angel found to his surprise that he was gripping Faith by the wrists.

Her hair was disheveled, kernels stuck in it, and she was still laughing… smiling…

She was beautiful.

Slowly, Angel released her and ruffled the popcorn out of Faith’s hair. “Okay, fine, you win this round…” he said quietly.

“But you’ll get me next time, is that it?”

Angel’s own smile was melancholy. “Something like that."
